After being placed on hold most the day while round one of the Quiksilver Pro France was completed, heat one of the women's division eventually took to the water once rain clouds had passed. Onshore winds increased, however, causing the postponement of the last remaining heat. Good 4ft (1.3m) waves were on offer at Les Bourdaines throughout the day, though conditions became difficult with a strong current and messy lineup. Australian Chelsea Georgeson overcame an early charge by 1993 world champ Pauline Menczer in the one heat surfed, and together they eliminated Prue Jeffries from the Roxy Pro France. Georgeson picked off a great lefthander for the heats top score of 8.5, belting it down the line with her trademark forehand re-entries. Another decision will be made at 9am (local time) tomorrow morning as to the day's schedule.
